The people behind KidsLab — and a growing team of mentors.

The people behind it
Regine Scheyer
Managing director and the organisational heart of KidsLab. Regine coordinates the projects, keeps in touch with schools, partners, and funders, and makes sure good ideas actually become workshops that land well. Without her, the workshops would still work technically — but probably never happen.
Gregor Walter
Managing director, programmer, and inventor. Gregor loves inventing, building, and programming crazy things — from a cannonball-jump detector to a slide photo trap to alarm-secured trousers. He wrote a book on “Programming in Minecraft” and builds learning worlds in Minecraft and Minetest.
At KidsLab he’s responsible for the technical side: programming the platforms (GamesLab Studio, Konsensomat, Prompt Battle), workshop concepts, and anything that blinks, beeps, or happens on a screen. He also develops the open-source projects and makes sure others can replicate what KidsLab does.
Daniel Greiser
IT consultant, developer, and self-employed since 2019 — Daniel brings a systems view and strong execution, from concept to full-stack development. His roots are in the open-source community, and he’s active as an expert at Media Lab Bayern.
At KidsLab, Daniel is the person who always seems to be there: at workshops, with the mentors, on problems, on ideas — sometimes probably in three places at once. He supervises mentors, supports projects, fixes things, builds new hacks, experiments with LEGO robots, and organises LAN parties on the side. At GamesPreis 2026 he was honoured with the “Super Otter” award for it — the special prize for incredible dedication, day and night.
Matthias “MatzE” Schugg
MatzE studied computer science and graduated with top marks — but his real talent lies in getting other people excited. He’s a mega Minecraft pro and has already reached hundreds of kids with his online courses “Programming in Minecraft.”
At KidsLab he’s not just a mentor — he pitches in everywhere as a tinkerer and solderer, whether it’s Lego Robotics, electronics, or creative workshop ideas. He’s been active with JugendHackt since his own teenage years and now passes that on as a mentor. When he’s not coding or soldering, you’ll find him floating through Augsburg’s canals or playing underwater rugby.
The mentor team
Our workshops thrive on our mentors: young people who code, build, and design themselves — and pass their enthusiasm directly on to participants. At GamesLab they supervise the teams, help with Scratch questions, and make sure every team ends up with a finished game.
Currently around 10 mentors are regularly active — at GamesLab workshops, the Future Days, and our events.
