Zukunftsnacht.de — The Results Platform

At zukunftsnacht.de (in German), the results of over 50 future workshops are documented — with more than 200 concrete future projects from 47 Bavarian municipalities. Here you can see what happens when teenagers get to plan their own town.

What is Zukunftsnacht.de?

Zukunftsnacht.de is the central platform where all the ideas and projects from the Digital Future Nights and Future Days are collected and published. Every project shows what teenagers wish for their municipality — from indoor pools to bike paths to youth centres. Many projects were formalised in future contracts with mayors and local councils, with concrete goals, responsibilities, and timeframes of 6–12 months.

Project categories

The 200+ project ideas roughly fall into the following areas:

• Leisure & sport — indoor pools, skateparks, youth centres, go-kart tracks
• Urban development & green space — green oases, green roofs, facade greening, schoolyard design
• Transport & mobility — expanding bike paths, better bus connections, on-demand buses
• Social & education — voter information evenings for first-time voters, free period products, youth hostels
• Environment & sustainability — solar panels on public buildings, climate-neutral infrastructure
• Digital — expanding Bayern-WLAN, the municipality’s social media presence

Participating municipalities

47 municipalities across Bavaria took part — from big cities like Munich and Augsburg to mid-sized towns like Schweinfurt, Traunstein, and Donauwörth, down to smaller municipalities like Berching, Chieming, or Waldsassen.

The virtual Future Museum

A special highlight: on zukunftsnacht.de you’ll find access to the virtual Future Museum — a walkable museum in Minetest where the teenagers’ visions of the future are on display. The museum is accessible around the clock and free to visit.

For teachers and youth workers

The Future Nights concept can be used flexibly — as a project day (6–8 hours), an overnight event (16–18 hours), or a regular weekly offer. Zukunftsnacht.de has further info on this (in German):
